Transit Mixer
Technology / Process

A typical RMC plant consists of the following basic components:

Areas covered or open for storing different grade of aggregares, cement, admixture etc.
Batching equipment which includes storage buns/silos for different types of cement and other raw materials, weigh batchers for proportioning the cement, aggregates and other raw materials and equipments for storing and batching of water and chemical admixtures.
Equipments for mixing of all the ingredients.
Equipments for controlling and recording the batching and mixing devices.

In addition to the basic components mentioned above a typical RMC facility generally also includes the following:

Quality control laboratory.
Transport vehicles for transporting concrete.
Placement equipment like concrete pumps.

The selection of major components and their capacities depends upon various factors affection a particular location.

Suggested Plant Capacity & Indicative Project Cost

The suggested plant capacity is 30 cubic meters per hour to begin with. However, after being established in the market, plants at various locations (either in a city or different cities) could be set up.

Delivery from RMC Plant

Transportation of RMC off the site is done in a transit mixer – a special purpose lorry, which has a revolving mixer to keep the mass within from solidifying.
